Matsumoto Himalayan Friendship Club (MHFC), Japan, has been another reliable donor which has generously supported the school to construct another comfortable hostel building with a capacity for 15 children and a separate kitchen and dining facility in 2002. The hostel was constructed under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Projects (GGP) scheme established by the Government of Japan. Ambassador Kaminaga was warmly welcomed to Khumjung in October 2002 to view the new buildings.
Mr Suzuki, the chairperson of MHFC, also generously provides a grant of Rs 72000 every year to cover the electricity tariff at the Khumjung School hostel. He also provides scholarships for students to pursue college education. The school is very thankful to Mr Pasang Dawa Sherpa who was able to find such a generous donor, helped with the hostel construction work and now manages the student scholarship.
